Choosing the right barcode printer
Desktop printers suit offices, retail and light warehouse work where space is limited. Industrial printers have metal frames, larger ribbon and label capacity and are built for long shifts. Mobile printers clip to a belt for shelf labels, deliveries and field service. For labels that must last — asset tags, outdoor or chemical-resistant labels — choose thermal transfer printing with the right ribbon; for short-life shipping and receipt labels, direct thermal needs no ribbon at all.

Which barcode printer is right for my business?

What is the difference between direct thermal and thermal transfer printing?
Direct thermal printing uses heat-sensitive labels and needs no ribbon, which is ideal for shipping and short-life labels. Thermal transfer uses a ribbon to bond ink to the label, so prints resist heat, light, abrasion and chemicals. It is the right choice for product, asset and long-life labels.
